Sonoma County Winegrowers’ President Embarks on Marshall Memorial Fellowship
On September 29, SCW President Karissa Kruse embarked on her global adventure as a participant in the Marshal Memorial Fellowship program. Karissa was selected from more than 700 nominees across the globe and is one of only 34 fellows representing the United States. She is also the first Sonoma County resident to ever receive this prestigious fellowship.
The Marshall Memorial Fellowship (MMF) is the flagship leadership development program for German Marshall Fund of the United States, granting fellowship awards to the leaders from all sectors, including business, government, and civil society. Fellows, like Karissa, engage in 6 months of preparation designed to enhance their understanding of transatlantic relations before embarking on 24 days of immersion. Karissa will concentrate her focus on global issues that impact Sonoma County’s grape growing and farming businesses, including best practices in sustainable farming, agri-tourism and wine marketing.
Karissa will be posting updates throughout her fellowship journey, documenting what she’s learned, fascinating people she’s met along the way, and much more. You can follow along on social media, including Twitter.
